The Challenge
Historic Downtown St. Charles draws visitors for dining, festivals and the county courthouse, and finding parking during busy periods had become a persistent frustration for residents and visitors alike.
"Historic Downtown St Charles has had issues with the public finding parking spots during evening dinner hours, events, festivals, and accessing the courthouse. During major events (75,000 to 150,000 attendees), the average circling time to find a parking spot was 7 to 15 minutes. After implementing the FYBR’s parking system, parking spots can be easily found through the app. The parking system provides the public real-time information that is direct, and decision making can be taken by the driver immediately. Having this information causing the driver to be less stressed at time of arrival, saves time, and saves fuel which in turn is better for personal health, the economy, and the environment. FYBR’s team was great to work with and very responsive. I am pleased with the results."

The Deployment
As a joint project of St. Charles County and the City of St. Charles, Fybr deployed 1,887 in-ground sensors across downtown streets and public lots. Each sensor reports in real time whether its space is occupied.
Drivers see open spaces through the Park STC app before and during their trip. The app's guest option lets visitors use it without providing personal information.
